Art therapy is an established form of psychotherapy that uses art-making as a way to explore thoughts, emotions, and experiences, especially those that may feel too complex or overwhelming to put into words. In sessions, art becomes a pathway, not for performance or perfection, but for expression, reflection, and healing. You don’t need to have any art skills. What matters is the process, not the product. Visit the British Association of Arts Therapists website for more information.

Not at all. Art therapy isn’t about skill, it’s about expression. The materials are simply tools to help you explore, reflect, and communicate. Some people choose not to make art, and that’s okay too.

Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) is a structured, evidence-based approach to working with children through play. Developed by Virginia Axline and grounded in Carl Rogers’ client-centered theory, CCPT creates a consistently warm, accepting, and non-judgmental environment where children feel emotionally safe. At the same time, clear and predictable boundaries are maintained, helping children develop a sense of security and learn emotional and behavioral self-regulation.
In CCPT, children use play, their natural language, to express thoughts and feelings that may be difficult to articulate directly. Research supports this approach as effective in reducing anxiety, aggression, behavioral challenges, withdrawal, and the effects of trauma. It also helps children strengthen frustration tolerance, problem-solving skills, confidence, creativity, and more cooperative social behavior.
The model is guided by eight foundational principles that provide therapists with a clear, systematic framework. This structure allows children the freedom to lead their play while ensuring that sessions remain purposeful, contained, and therapeutically meaningful.

We’ll begin by getting to know each other. I’ll ask about what’s bringing you in, and we’ll talk about what support might look like moving forward.
-
Sessions are typically once per week. This helps build safety, consistency, and momentum in the work. However, frequency can be adjusted based on your needs and goals.
-
Parent consultation focuses on supporting you in your caregiving role, without the child necessarily being in the session. It’s a space to reflect, understand, and explore new ways of supporting your child from an attachment and developmentally-informed perspective.

Yes. I offer virtual sessions to clients in a variety of locations around the world. As long as local regulations permit and we can coordinate across time zones, I’m happy to explore working together. If you’re unsure whether I can provide services where you live, feel free to get in touch. I’m always open to having a conversation about what support might be possible.
